MAKE YOUR CLOTHES LAST LONGER

SAVING money and spending it only on necessary item is what most people are doing these days. This is a prudent thing to do no matter the state of the economy. And properly caring for your clothes so they last longer is one way to cut costs. Here are a few simple things you can do to prolong the life of your clothes.
One way clothes lose their life span is through frequent washing. Each time you wash your clothes, colour fades (with most fabrics) and fibred are weakened. Of course, you need to wash your clothes and you don’t want to scare people away with odour and stains. But there are a few things you can do that will be gentler on your clothes.

  • Wash clothes in cold water, especially dark colour.
  •  Be sure to separate dark and white before washing light colored clothing can leave lint on dark clothes, while dark clothes can bleed colors onto white clothes.
  • Wash your clothes on the gentle cycle use a gentle detergent.
  • Wash rough stuff like jeans together and softer fabrics together
Clothes should be turned inside out before washing. This prevent colour from fading. This is especially important when it come to jeans. Wear your clothes more than once before washing. Of course if something get stained, wash it. The rule does not apply to underwear, which must not be worn more than once. But things like dress shirts, jeans and cotton trouser can be worn more than once. If a stain is small, you can simply spot clean instead of throwing the whole garment in the wash.

It’s no secret that clothes dryer used in most dry-cleaning shops damage to your wardrobe. Even on low heat, dryer wreak havoc on fabrics. All that line that collects in the dryer filter used to be fibres in your clothing. You can air dry your more expensive shirt and jeans, as well as things that are prone to shrink. The side benefit to air drying is that you will save energy too. Air drying also means minimum sunlight; you must watch and remove your clothes on time and out of reach of the scorching sun.
