Tie or Tie less: The IT look

Is the tie going out of fashion? More and more guys dump the tie nowadays in favour of the open chest relaxed look. Except for banking and other corperate sectors who still maintain the tie-for-life dress code, guys are increasingly showing how smoking it can get in the no-tie department.
In a recent graduation ceremony for the school of ministry and leadership of Global Impact church, all the graduating students were instructed to comply strictly with a formal dress code. The formal code was to give an indication that they have been officially admitted into the leadership circle, their dressing was to be a key mark of the leaders they had become. For men, a formal style comprises the everlasting suit in agreeable colour, the dress shirt and then of course, the tie. 85 per cent of the students as well as the lecturers turned up suited sans tie.
Elsewhere, all over the world, the tie has stopped featuring as a prominent item of formal dressing, a clear indication that the almighty accessory may be on its way out of the fashion scene. Top designers like Adebayo Jones as well as clothiers like Tolu Omoniyi of Bobos city and Emeka Oranu of First zone may not be caught dead with ties. Blessed with a penchant for style, they wear their suits like second skin, adding panache by introducing features to die for into their dressing.
For many other guys, this era is one that calls for a more relaxed look. “There is too much stress flying around, you don’t want to add a choking tie to that” say Henry, a photo model.

Power Dressing: Improve Your Image Through Visual Appearance.

You could work into an establishment and instantly get employed or you could clinch millions of dollar worth of business deals by simply dressing for the part. The colours you wear will create a visual impression to an onlooker, that if you left house without checking with your mirror first. Colours on the wearer can either make her look pale or healthy; they can also make her look people friendly or chase people away from her.
According to Jennifer Edwards, a graduate of political science who doubles as a model, beauty and image consultant, people will response to you based on the colour you wear, you need to understand the colours that work well on you so you can coordinate them. Colour plays a major role in our dressing as far as business world is concerned; there are colours that must not be worn to work.
If you go out and you receive a lot of compliments from people on what you are wearing, then you should know the colour is your colour and you should work around it. You need to know what style goes with your body structure.
Edwards who is organising a seminar ‘dress for success’ aims to teach people how to achieve a successful image through dressing. She intends to also teach about colour palette, “if a dark complexioned person is wearing black colour, the black will only serve to enlarge the complexion and this will make the wearer very unappealing to onlookers” says Emeka Ebeniro, a brand consultant. People may be very rude to the person and the person may not know that it is a result of the dressing.
The seminar is particularly targeted at people going for job interviews, business men or people in the marketing profession. Edwards believes it is not so much what you wear as how you wear it. She observes that Nigerians always want to wear whatever is in vogue instead of dressing according to the body type.

Touch It Like A Beauty Queen

According to the chairman, Silver bird Group, Ben Murray- Bruce, people should not always be amazed when the most fantastic lady ends up wit the lowest points, while the one who is not the most beautiful goes home with the crown in a beauty pageant.
“Winning a pageant is not always about beauty. A lot of things go into it. The contestant must always be on top of her games, she must do everything to stay in the good books of the judges at all times. You could look fantastic on the first few days and miss it on the last day,” he said. As far as facial beauty goes, standing out in a crowd of beautiful, talented people is very important and there is no better way to do this than to have a polished look. The following steps should fetch you the desired beauty queen look.
Step 1
Select make- up that that matches your skin tone. Understand that make-up that is different from your normal skin tone will be a bad contrast under onstage light and private interview lighting.
Step 2
Apply transparent loose powder that is not easily noticeable to eliminate shine.
Step 3
Use a lighter colour foundation below the eyes that accentuates your eye colour. Put a small amount of foundation below the eyes will stand out more
Step 4
Put on eye powder. Select earth tones, except when you are using a really bright colour. Choose eye shadow that is a lot darker than you would for everyday wear. The eyes are especially important.
Step 5
Apply blush. Put blush directly o the check bone. Begin at the ear and brush toward. Using blush adds colour to the face. Add a small amount of blush to your nose and your chin.
Steps 6
Use eyeliner under eyes, right above stand out and appear to sparkle. Use mascara to lengthen eyelashes.
Step 7
Remember to apply lip liner and lipstick. Select a shade that is not too bright because light shade can make lips look thinner.
Step 8
Top the lips off with an elegant, subtle lips gloss that matches the tone of your clothes.

Ideal Look For A Man’s Bedroom

A MAN’S bedroom does not necessarily mean a bachelor’s bedroom. Men can also enjoy romantic interiors, but with manly touch. The most important things that can give the bedroom a masculine feeling is the wall colours, accessories, bedding and furniture. A man is not completely given to delicate things, but luxury is a style statement and men want it too. To give the room a clean and clear look one should first clearly demarcate what he really wants and what are for decorative purpose only. Fresh flowers and floral drapes are definitely not macho.

Colours
A man’s bedroom should have basic and bold colours to give it a strong look. The favorites being black, blue, purple and green. You can actually do magic by the application of these colours in the right way. Go for the same tones in one colour rather than selecting different colours for one bedroom. If you are going for wallpaper finish then try them in these shades with horizontal and vertical lines. Creating a wave pattern with a particular wallpaper design is also a good choice’

Fabrics
Fabrics can be of any material you fancy. The popular choices for men’s bedroom include Egyptian cotton, a blend of cotton and polyester, jacquard weave, velvet, faux suede and leather, Blue suede has also become quite popular. One can use it is a duvet cover to give a manly as well as romantic touch. Blue fabric when teamed with white can give quite a sophisticated look to the bedroom as well
Bedding
A man’s bed space is his own private den. So the bedspread, bed sheets all should give a masculine feeling. One can either go for plain coloured sheets like blue, earthy colours, black, crimson red etc. The other option is going for bedding in animal prints. Tiger, deer and elephant printed sheets look excellent in men’s bedrooms. Satin sheets in bold colours also go very well with the masculine theme.

Men’s bedroom accessories
Go for some straight vertical looking side table lamps. The lamps not only provide easy bedtime reading but also give some effective lighting solution for the bedroom. One can also add some elephant print throe in pillows for the stylish feel. For wall accessories go for earthy paintings. If you are of art then modern art is also a good choice. Complete the bedroom look with some throw rugs. And finally put some candles. Select candle of different heights and natural colour and lace them on a glass plate or dish with river rocks.

Furniture
Bed is not the only furniture in the bedroom. Right from the side tables to the dresser to the wardrobe everything speaks volume of masculinity. Try going for strong wooden furniture rather than the wrought iron stuff. Right from the bed to the small dresser everything in wood gives a clean look to the men’s bedroom. A man’s world is about elegance, sophistication and class all clubbed together.

MAKE YOUR CLOTHES LAST LONGER

SAVING money and spending it only on necessary item is what most people are doing these days. This is a prudent thing to do no matter the state of the economy. And properly caring for your clothes so they last longer is one way to cut costs. Here are a few simple things you can do to prolong the life of your clothes.
One way clothes lose their life span is through frequent washing. Each time you wash your clothes, colour fades (with most fabrics) and fibred are weakened. Of course, you need to wash your clothes and you don’t want to scare people away with odour and stains. But there are a few things you can do that will be gentler on your clothes.

  • Wash clothes in cold water, especially dark colour.
  •  Be sure to separate dark and white before washing light colored clothing can leave lint on dark clothes, while dark clothes can bleed colors onto white clothes.
  • Wash your clothes on the gentle cycle use a gentle detergent.
  • Wash rough stuff like jeans together and softer fabrics together
Clothes should be turned inside out before washing. This prevent colour from fading. This is especially important when it come to jeans. Wear your clothes more than once before washing. Of course if something get stained, wash it. The rule does not apply to underwear, which must not be worn more than once. But things like dress shirts, jeans and cotton trouser can be worn more than once. If a stain is small, you can simply spot clean instead of throwing the whole garment in the wash.

It’s no secret that clothes dryer used in most dry-cleaning shops damage to your wardrobe. Even on low heat, dryer wreak havoc on fabrics. All that line that collects in the dryer filter used to be fibres in your clothing. You can air dry your more expensive shirt and jeans, as well as things that are prone to shrink. The side benefit to air drying is that you will save energy too. Air drying also means minimum sunlight; you must watch and remove your clothes on time and out of reach of the scorching sun.

DRESSING PROFESSIONALLY

WHILE the person in jeans may be as competent and as intelligent as the one wearing the formal suit appearances are bound to influence the assessment of attribute. All the ingredient- knowledge, preparation, and appearance- are necessary to make a good impression. When you work at home or in an office where casual attire is the norm, its difficult to get of that role and into the role of the professional in front of the audience or in front of a television camera. But, if you want to make a good impression, its worth the effort.

Here’s what you need to do.
If you must buy a suit for the few occasions you have to make a public appearance, buy something classic. After all, if you’re only going to wear the suit a few of times a year, you wouldn’t want it to go out of style too quickly. You can probably get away with a nice skirt and jacket. A trouser suit is also s good idea.
If you’re going to be in front of the camera, some special rules apply. Wear neutral colures like dark blue or grey. Don’t wear large or glitzy jewelers, and wear a button down shirt or a jacket so there will be a place to clip a microphone.

BIG BAG STILL TRENDY

There seem to end to the reign of the big bags in the fashion world. Even fashion buff has refused to let go of them.
Many woman derive joy from the great look there big bags add to them, especially formal wear and traditional attire.
Apart from that, the working woman has enough room in her bag to keep everything make-up, toiletries, and possibly her laptop.
Many designer would do anything to have their label on there big bags because of its trendy nature.
So how big should be your bag? Well, as big as you are comfortable with. Some petite-sized women would complain about the big bags, but there are still some averagely-sized bags that would not only suit their taste but also big enough to show off.

TOTAL PACKAGE

Draping
Slink into the season with a fluid, feminine take on the Grecian theme. A gorgeous long dress that drapes along your body is timeless gives you a perfect summer goddess inspired look. Dresses that drape hide away any imperfections a woman may have because of the billowy fabric, so therefore is insanely figure flattering!

In order to wear this type of dress properly, make sure that you keep the rest of your look as elegant and graceful as the dress. Wear you hair in a very elegant up-do or keep it down and wavy with half of it up and out of your face. The same needs to be done with your make-up as well. You want your face to have a very fresh and soft glow to it, so stay away from the really dark shades and tick with something a little more romantic and feminine such as pink and bronze. A nice nude lip will also bring the entire look together.

Also, stick with minimal accessories. Don’t try to add a lot of different jewellery pieces into the look. Stick with one statement piece, such as earrings that add a little attitude. A long statement necklace can also work but you need to make sure that is able to lie flat. Do not attempt this with a draped neckline or one that is asymmetrical. The neckline should be a low V-neck if you want to show off a necklace.
